In a quaint little section of North Hollywood you will find Valley Village. Like most of the communities in the San Fernando Valley, it was once fertile farmland and working ranches. Valley Village was officially incorporated in May of 1939 and not more than a month later, a group of five hundred women announced a master plan for the beautification of the community. However it wasn’t until the 1990’s that Valley Villagewas officially recognized as a separate community by the Los Angeles City Council.

Perhaps the first master planned community of its kind Valley Village soon became a model of serenity in the San Fernando Valley. Valley Village features parkways, cycling paths, a series of small parks, recreation centers and other modern amenities. The Valley Village real of today is a lovely community that has a Norman Rockwell flavor with its mature tree-lined streets – only about half of which have sidewalks – and residents out walking dogs, strolling babies and chatting with their neighbors on a daily basis. Valley Village residents take pride in maintaining the charm of this family-oriented burg.

The Neighborhood Council Valley Village and the Valley Village Home Owners Association are especially active in Valley Village. They host an annual July 4th Parade that has grown throughout the years and now attracts marching bands and local residents that build their own parade floats. Kids decorate bikes and wagons and participate by marching along the parade route. They all meet up at the Valley Village Park for treats and a healthy dose of the community building that Valley Village property owners pride themselves on.

Valley Village real estate has attracted many young families in the last several years. One of the reasons is that the local public elementary school, Colfax Charter Elementary, has become one of the best in the San Fernando Valley.
